Honest accounting - the psyche's capacity to see itself truthfully.
Justice weighs. She does not punish and she does not forgive; she tells the truth about what has been done and what follows from it. Psychologically she is the capacity for honest self-assessment - the moment the ego becomes responsible for its own pattern.

Truth as weapon. Accounting becomes punishment, every verdict is death, and the scale is used to settle scores rather than restore relation. Righteousness replaces responsibility.

The scale refused. Consequences are other people's fault; patterns are bad luck; the self is always the one something has happened to. Without accounting there is no real learning.
