Temperance
“The third thing cannot be forced; only slowly poured.”
Alchemical blending - patient integration of opposites.
Temperance pours one vessel slowly into another. After Death's clearing, she is the patient work of combination - holding fire and water together long enough for a new substance to form. She is the psyche's capacity for nuance, moderation, and the long view.
Fullness
The healthy, integrated expression
The Steady Alchemist
Opposites blended without haste. Temperance in fullness refuses the false choice, holds tension between poles, and lets the third thing - the actual integration - emerge on its own timing.
Active Shadow
Over-expression - Enantiodromia inflates the energy
The Sterile Moderator
Moderation as anesthetic. Every strong feeling is diluted, every passion is tempered into neutrality, and balance becomes a way to never commit to anything vivid enough to matter.
Passive Shadow
Under-expression - the repressed or deflated pole
The Volatile
No blending at all. The self swings between poles without ever integrating them - elation then despair, fusion then cutoff, craving then aversion - exhausting itself on the vertical.
